Crafts for the Senses 2026

Craft in all its diversity
“Le Savoir-faire” brings the excellence of European craftsmanship to life. Precision, passion and tradition come together with innovation and contemporary design.
Visitors immerse themselves in a world where craft can be experienced with all the senses: seeing, touching, tasting and smelling. Ceramicists, glass artists, textile designers, hand weavers, goldsmiths, winemakers, distillers and chocolatiers present their skills and bring their work to life.
Behind every object there is a person: independent artisans and manufacturers united by their passion and their wide variety of personalities. Exquisite objects, rare materials and masterful techniques are at the heart of this event.
The setting of the Renaissance castle of Maretsch in the heart of Bolzano gives the event a unique backdrop. Surrounded by vineyards and historic architecture, it creates an exclusive scenery that brings tradition and the present together in perfect harmony.

Susanne Kramer: art from yarn and thread
Susanne Kramer studied fashion and textile design in Hanover and The Hague. After many years as a textile designer in the fashion industry, she wanted to work more freely and independently and follow her own artistic impulses.
With needle and thread, she draws and paints delicate textile works that range from fine sketches to three-dimensional objects. Her work includes both expressive portraits and abstract compositions.
The poetry of thread
“I paint with needle and thread.”
From a seemingly simple material, she creates multi-layered works of art somewhere between drawing, painting and sculpture. Susanne Kramer shapes the thread, gives it structure and volume, and creates expressive works without losing its natural delicacy and lightness.
Light and shadow are key design elements. They give the works depth and let the fine lines step out of the surface into space. The result is a fascinating interplay of material, form and shadow.
Susanne Kramer’s works invite you to rediscover the quiet strength and extraordinary beauty of a seemingly unremarkable material.
